Met up with friends for an overnight stay and dinner. I felt they were understaffed. Long time waiting at the bar. Long time waiting at dinner, which was rather expensive for what it was. Breakfast wasn't great. Hard eggs and empty dishes.
The hotel is very nice and we have stayed once previously. However this time we felt that the room and bathroom was looking tired, not all fittings working, and needed a revamp in general. We stayed on a Secret Escapes one night deal which was good value and included an allowance towards evening meal. The meal was of good quality and the staff in the dining room were very polite and friendly. However the breakfast was poor. Awful ‘serve yourself’ hot drinks machine which was all messy, cereals again all messy. No fresh fruit (sliced) when we arrived in the dining room and we were told by the waiter that he would look to see if there were anymore but none came. Lack of choice in general for breakfast, for this size of hotel. Overall I would stay again but it would be nice if these issues were addressed. Rooms: Room we stayed in was looking tired and would benefit from a revamp (room 63) Nearby activities: Shrewsbury is only a very short drive away and there is Harlescott Park and ride nearby. It is a beautiful town with great shops, castle, river etc Food & drinks: Evening meal very good quality food Breakfast poor choice and messy hot drinks area.
We had booked a spa day and afternoon tea. It was my best ever birthday present from my sister. Food & drinks: We had spa and afternoon tea, the spa and the massage was just amazing and the tea room was very nice and retro in an extremely quiet room which made it very romantic. All the staff was nice and polite.
Came for an overnight stay and spa with my daughter. All of the staff were great: friendly, helpful. We were very happy with the treatments we had at the spa. The grounds were beautiful. The food was hit and miss: our lunch in the bar was very tasty (steak sandwich; cheese and chutney sandwich); my dinner was great (slow cooked pork belly), my daughter's less so (Lamb with chicory); breakfast was below par (eggs over done, bacon like leather). The biggest disappointment was the pool area. The pool looked like it needed a good clean; the jacuzzi and another room in the thermal suite were out of commission; and the steam room wasn't very steamy.
Booked through Secret Escapes for my wife's birthday. A very enjoyable stay including a treatment at the Spa, use of the pool and a really excellent meal in the Oak Restaurant. Staff were very welcoming and helpful, particularly Cheryl and Morgan on reception and the excellent Maitre D, Kelvin in the restaurant. Minor complaint about the hard pillows and the lack of EV chargers but these didnt detract from a lovely stay. Rooms: Comfortable and clean room. Pillows were too hard for me but everything else was excellent. Food & drinks: Excellent meal in the Oak restaurant. Beautiful flavours and great staff.
Stayed in the stable block, very spacious rooms, Wi-Fi hit and miss Rooms: Big and spacious Nearby activities: Shrewsbury town 2 miles away
Visited recently. Weather wasn't great but made the most of it. The Hotel was in a lovely location with beautiful surroundings. Our room was set away from the main part so was a little uncomfortable (when it rained heavy) when getting to both restaurant & Bar to eat & drink. Overall our room was clean, spacious & well equipped. It even had a fridge. You can get to Shrewsbury Town & other locations easily from this hotel. Loved it, would recommend. Probably go back at some point. Noteworthy details: Lovely setting with a lake. You can also picnic within the grounds. Informative and friendly staff. Plenty of parking on site.
