On September 5, 1964, Marlboro finally had it’s own Pizza restaurant, The Marlboro House of Pizza was opened. The owners were Stavros and Vasiliki Economou who had come to the U.S. 8 years before from Epiros, Greece.Vasiliki’s mother Anggiliki, as well as her sister Millie and her brother Chris, helped the family open the new restaurant. Prior to becoming The Marlboro House of Pizza, the location had been occupied by a drug store, a laundry mat, and a diner. In the beginning, The Marlboro House of Pizza sold 700 to 800 pizzas a day, as well as selling their, soon to become famous, “home-made meatball subs”!
