San Antonio's best family-owned homestyle comfort food restaurant serving Texas inspired made-from-scratch daily breakfast, brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner. Enjoy our famous fried mushrooms, chicken fried steak, Texas beers on tap, or one of our handmade craft cocktails. Cappy Lawton opened Mama's Cafe in 1981 and operated it until 1988. The Lawton Family retook ownership of Mama's Cafe in 2019 and we reopened in May 2021 with a new look, new kitchen, and new patio/beer garden.
