I was so looking forward to trying Leah and Louise, chosen for my birthday dinner. I was highly disappointed. I am a southerner and know how to cook. I was not s fan of Leah and Louise. The catfish was very small and not well seasoned. The food is bland. The oxtail off the bone was scarce and lacked flavor. I stand corrected by general manager…The “petit “ the owner brought out at the end of our dinner was a joke. I believe in supporting black businesses but won’t be returning. Way overpriced for what you’re getting. . The ambience is great but not a fan of the food. Appreciate the response from the general manager and correction to petit and not dessert. General manager should learn how to use the correct for and four. Won’t be returning to try your dessert listed on your menu as the “shugahs!” Especially if it’s anything like what we tried on the menu and The cabbage isn’t that good either.

I wasnt hungry enough for meal so I ordered a few appetizers. Honestly it was a lot more food than I thought but it was all so delicious. The cabbage was tender and cream and cooked to perfection. The chicken skins reminded me of pork rinds and the Brussel sprouts had a nice balsamic glaze. The drinks were good too. French 75 was on par. What was strange but surprisingly works was the apple cobbler.its drizzled with a cheese sauce which adds a nice depth to the dish

Leah and Louise in Charlotte, NC, is a culinary tour de force, living up to its self-proclaimed status as a modern Juke Joint. The menu skillfully interprets classic Southern dishes, incorporating ingredients and techniques that honor the proprietors' heritage. Drawing inspiration from the Mississippi River Valley foodways, including Memphis, Jackson, Mississippi, and New Orleans, the restaurant presents a unique and thoughtfully curated selection of flavorful offerings. It's a dining experience that truly stands out.

We came for the Valentine’s Day menu. It was super delicious. The pork chop was my favorite thing! The service was a little slow but the food was so good it made up for it. The vibes were good, and good music was played. We will come back for sure

Great atmosphere in the Camp North End development. Eclectic art and fixtures on the walls and throughout. Menu was fantastic however our waiter didn’t display a command of the ingredients or preparation. Deducted a point for service because the waiter missed so many opportunities to share more about the food, the restaurant, the menu and the chef. The food was very good but cold to Luke warm by the time it reached our table. I feel badly for deducting a star for that, but I’m sure the flavor would have been superlative if warm or even hot. Glad we came. Would recommend.

Too many high end restaurants in Charlotte have incompetent wait staffs. Restauranteurs bemoan the shortage of qualified applicants, but provide little training (and far littler expections) to their staff. Charlotte dining culture, too, is to blame in blandly countenancing friendly demeanor as the paradigm for good service. The wait persons themselves are least to blame. With expectations for professionalism so low and tipping so high why bother to do more. Charlotte could be a destination for fine dining, but excellent dishes alone are not enough.
