Good restaurant with a nice atmosphere and friendly staff....
Poorly managed restaurant.
We've lived in Southampton for 11 years but drive to Sag Harbor and Hampton Bay often to dine. We avoided Le Charlot because of the terrible reviews, but decided to give it a shot one wintery off-season Monday Night. To our surprise, they offered an off-season prix-fix menu and $12 glasses of wine. My husband selected from the $40 prix-fix (Escargot and Mussels) and i decided off menu (duck confit). In all honesty, the regular menu isn't a great value - 1 duck leg, salad and crisps for $38, but you're in the hamptons. I didn't know what to expect, but was pleasently surprised. Portion wise was perfect for me, but if you were hungry, you'd probably be disappointed. Everything was very tasty. The service was very good. The only thing we found a little weird was the music selection. We would have prefered some french music, which would have added to the ambience. We will definateiy go back again.
I have eaten most things on the menu by now. So many winners in my mind. The portions are large and the food/ service is always good. My fave mains are the tiger Shrimp, Chicken curry, steaks, cheeseburger. My fave apps the roasted beets and goat cheese and heart of palm with avocado. Tarufo for dessert cannot be beat!
I wish I had read the review just posted. I agree although the waitress was a little less horrible. My mussels tasted as though they had been around for a while and were just not delicious. I was afraid that I was going to be sick but thankfully only got stomach cramps. The drinks which were incredibly expensive were minuscule. I will never dine there again.
The maitre’d is extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. Based on the numerous references in other reviews, it is truly unfortunate that a single person can directly negatively impact the restaurant’s performance. It’s a shame.
We had a truly horrendous experience at this disgusting restaurant on our birthday celebration. The server we encountered was not only ridiculously rude, but also unhelpful. The table was dirty and sticky. When we asked for wipes he bluntly replied with a "no." Later, when we inquired about hand sanitizer, he responded with a downright disrespectful "no" as well. It took asking another server to finally get wipes, only to have the initial server return and belittle us for questioning his previous false claims. His condescending attitude and dismissive comment when we requested another server were utterly disgusting. We promptly left, leaving behind our drinks and fries. It's truly disheartening to encounter such disrespectful and disgusting individuals during what was supposed to be a celebratory occasion. I strongly urge this business to address this issue and ensure that no other customers have to endure such appalling treatment.
