The place was filthy. On arrival the whole place smelled of bleach. This is an old historical building so you would expect things to be old and not perfect but the room was dirty. Like really dirty. Spider webs hanging off the ceiling, so much dust everywhere, dirty bath and mould on the windows and walls. I got one of their most premium rooms which was just bad. We decided to leave straight away. Upon complaining, the manager called me and was quite unpleasant and arrogant. He insinuated that I was lying about the cleanliness of the room saying the cleaning staff worked there for years. He spoke to me in a rude manner. I would never even consider this place again. It's overpriced for what it is and not looked after properly. My advice, find elsewhere.
Service was outstanding from booking in to out. Cleanliness was outstanding, too. Even though the other rooms were occupied, there wasn't a sound. The window opened - unlike some hotels - yet there was minimum traffic noise, considering the location. Easy to park. This fine looking hotel didn't disappoint once you cross the threshold as the inside decor easily holds its own to the exterior. Fit for a king (read the history). An extremely comfortable and stylish bar sits at the end of the welcoming hall. However, here our experience changed as sadly, this room was closed at 6pm and we were invited to visit their sister hotel across the road where full amenities were open. But, we wanted to relax and had no great desire to leave the hotel because we had a long journey ahead of us the following day. It was Easter Sunday and we quite honestly were looking forward to mingling with the other guests and nestling into the comfortable seats of this magnificent room. A couple of drinks from their well-stocked bar would have been the icing on the cake for us on this special weekend. Our room was cosy with plenty of storage space. Sadly, the bed was quite 'bouncy' and whenever one of us turned over, the other 'bounced' too! This might not have been so noticeable had the bed been bigger. On reflection, we feel that it would have been more comfortable to have had a bed bigger than a double and to have sacrificed the side table for a smaller alternative. Having a relaxing evening with other guests and having a good night sleep for us rank quite highly, but like I explained in the beginning, the staff were friendly and helpful, everywhere was immaculately clean and you're immersed in a historic hotel, so not bad - but next time we will enquire on the opening times of the amenities and bed size. Would still recommend you stay here to make up your own mind.
Lovely hotel, clean and tidy coffee and tea facilities, near Bournemouth 02 academy went to a concert!
Nice place for a quiet weekend away, everything is within walking distance.
Really nice room in a quiet area of town. Decent breakfast included...service wasn't super quick but we were in no rush.
Definitely will be going back again. stayed in the King's room. Staff very friendly and welcoming.
