3.5* Sandwich was good but the employee taking the orders was a little challenging to understand. The matzo ball soup was simply chicken broth and a matzo ball. Nothing else in it. That was disappointing as other places at least have vegetables or chicken. The garlic pickles from the barrel were great; the dill pickles were complete soggy and should be removed from the barrel. They serve you the drink you order vs a fountain with self-serve. This is fine, but if you change your mind or want a refill either you're out of luck or have to find an employee and ask them. When the two of us went in it was lunch time on a weekday and we were the only customers in there. The cooks were sitting down playing video games and it was just kind of an awkward environment compared to the bustling atmosphere in the German Village. If you were to patron Katzinger's for the first time I would recommend the German Village location hands down. Also, the potato salad hunks of potato were still rather firm. Not cooked enough. Great music playing in the empty restaurant, though!
I visited the Dublin location for the first time today. I was warmly greeted and was advised that it was Restaurant Week and they had a special menu. I chose to get their turkey, bacon and pimento cheese sandwich, accompanied by potato salad and a fudge brownie, which were featured on their RW menu. Additionally, I ordered a fountain soda. After a short wait, a staff member delivered my drink and a few minutes later, my food arrived. So far, so good. The restaurant was clean, orderly and comfortable, which is a great improvement to the in-store experience at the German village location. Unfortunately, my lunch experience went off the rails with the arrival of my order. The sandwich was grilled and warm, but disappointing as it was utterly lacking in flavor. I ate half, and saved the other for later. The Hellman's mayonnaise potato salad was dry and flavorless. My final item, the fudge brownie, was dry and also flavorless. At one point, I wondered if I was suffering from Covid and had lost my sense of smell/taste. However, I thoroughly tasted and enjoyed my Pepsi and was also able to normally taste my dinner that evening. I have always enjoyed the food when I've dined at the GV location, but found the setting loud, crowded and often unkempt. But the flavors and food quality trumped the negatives. The Dublin location may be more comfortable, but the food was so disappointing, I won't be going back.
The original was where we should have went.. sandwich was just not good.. dissappointed.
Best deli sandwiches in northern Columbus!
I ordered the Gene's free lunch and it came with 1 tiny piece of corned beef and1 tiny slice of roast beef. There is barley anything on the sandwich it is mostly bread. I will not be going back or recommend. For $17 a sandwich it should come with more than bread and a little bit of coleslaw. I'm not happy.
Too expensive. Sandwiches we order were so bad, neither my friend nor I finished them. Dry, tasteless. No seasoning. For that price, it should come with a drink and chips.
Love this place, great food and service. I will be back
