European Espanada - Cheburek
Cheburek is a popular street food and comfort dish from the regions of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. It is a deep-fried pastry made from thin unleavened dough, traditionally filled with ground meat (usually lamb, beef, or a combination), onions, and seasonings like salt, pepper, and garlic.
The dough is rolled out into a flat, round shape, and the filling is placed on one half. The dough is then folded over to form a half-moon shape, and the edges are sealed before frying. When deep-fried, chebureks become crispy and golden on the outside, with a juicy, flavorful filling inside.
Some variations include cheese or vegetable fillings, but the classic version features meat. Cheburek is typically served hot and is enjoyed as a savory snack or a meal on its own.
