The place is cute, the service was fine, but the food here is not good. At all.
My daughter and I ordered the crab cakes Benedict. The avocado was hard as a rock and inedible. The eggs were overcooked and not runny. The crab cakes were also overcooked and hard, and they did not taste like crab, the filling was an odd mystery paste. The only thing on the plate that tasted okay was the English muffin, but it was soggy.
My husband got the New Orleans skillet was not hot, the cheese not melted, and he said he’d had better skillets at Denny’s.
Whoever made the beignets, has clearly only ever seen pictures of them and never actually eaten one. They were under cooked, and the little dipping sauces were clearly just pie fillings from a can. The vanilla “cream” was vanilla pudding, probably from a can or a snack-pack.
None of us finished our food. Will not be back.
*** UPDATE ***
Both my older daughter and I ended up with food poisoning from the crab cake benedicts that we ordered. The two of us were sick with stomach issues (coming and going) for three days. - If I could make this a negative 5 star review, I would
What happened to this restaurant. We have eaten there several times and enjoyed the meals. But yesterday was different. No line to get seated, not one table was taken on the left side was taken, food was awful both breakfasts. My waffles were undercooked, the chicken fingers were so dry I had a hard time chewing it and I asked for fried eggs sunny side up with a crispy edge. The eggs were under cooked and the clear film on the eggs were still runny on top of the eggs. The other order was an omelette. The omelette looked like my granddaughter cooked it. It’s wasn’t fluffy and filled with ingredients. The omelette was overcooked and dry. But a giant pile of breakfast potatoes were piled next to the omelette. The potatoes were so undercooked we couldn’t cut them with a fork-raw red potatoes.
Something changed with this restaurant’s since the last time we ate there. That was a total waste of $47…..
We will never go back.
Everything is good… scrambled eggs are always on the cooler side
$4 for a tiny soda
$17 for tiny chicken and a burnt waffle.
This place is just gross
The chicken fried steak is huge and yummy along with potatoes eggs and toast at a great price too! The service is fantastic and I have found our wait on a busy day isn't too long. We definitely will be going back.
Food was good, gumbo in particular was surprisingly good (in California lol). Portion size was decent as well. I could've probably given it 5 stars. Chalk it up to my being tired and hungry (hangry). I recommend it for sure, will probably eat there again when I'm up that way.
I used to love this restaurant when they first came to Natomas. Over the years, the quality of the food has decreased pretty significantly. I do hope they are able to turn that around because their atmosphere is pleasant.
Visited this location Sunday morning. Was well greeted and, sat on the patio where it was nice and cool, it was very busy inside and a bit stuffy.
Our server, was wonderful. I am sorry I forgot his name, but he was from Hawaii.
If only the food was as good as the service.
I ordered a Cajun style eggs, Benedict, which arrived coldish. Our server was gracious enough to offer to microwave it.. 🫤
He took it away, but then returned shortly there after and said he had put in for a fresh order.
Replacement came and was slightly warmer
The food seemed as though it had been up for a while and was waiting for assemblage
Sausages were good, hollandaise sauce was not broken. I got fruit instead of potatoes.
My husband had a fish entree. It was served in a cast-iron skillet atop a wooden platter. Typically, this type of service is for something that is very hot, and searing. Not in this case, the skillet was cold. 🙄 My husband said the fish was good.
He also had a salad with his meal, which he said seemed as though they made it yesterday.
Our server, was so wonderful, everything we asked for he came and brought to us with a smile.
We drank cups and cups of coffee, which he was only too happy to provide. And, he was great at clearing the table.
Silverware was tinny, dollar store-like, which gives any place a utilitarian feel.
I also ordered a appetizer of fried green tomatoes
They were delicious.
So two entrées, fried green tomatoes, and one cup of coffee plus tip brought our Sunday breakfast tab, for two people, to $60.00.
I know Sundays are super busy for breakfast places, and this was pretty much the only one around. I also have leniency for the kitchen staff. Who, I’m sure make popular portions in advance in order to serve things quickly.
However, the food was lackluster. For a place that touts the excitement of the south, it wasn’t that exciting.
Atmosphere was nice and the zydeco music was fun.
Coffee was delicious.
All in all a nice place. We might be back to try other dishes, but food quality vs price might have us trying another spot.
