HOLDSWORTH HOUSE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT

Great. Loved revisiting my old home town and staying in this stylish, friendly, and dog- friendly hotel. Enjoyed it immensely.

Food was expensive, didn't think it was particularly special. They've gone for a very gourmet/premium sounding menu but for me and my dinner companions it didn't deliver that wow factor. The smoked whiskey gel with the custard was absolutely dreadful! Service was good though, would've been good to have drinks offered rather than having to grab someone when they were doing something else. Did well to get everyone served simultaneously. Room was nice, bed was too hot as there was some sort of heat retaining pad under the sheets. A colleague also said the same. (The windows didn't open and the radiator was off.) Shower pressure wasn't great which is reflective of it being a very old building. The bar area was nice for a post dinner drink and the setting is nice. I would stay again but eat elsewhere and request a bed without the added warmth! Price is reflective of the history and it being a small place. Rooms: Top floor had no opening windows, just fixed skylights. Food & drinks: Menu available and wide range of drinks including premium brands

Absolutely outstanding!! My partner and I (and baby) booked on the whim as we were travelling home from Harrogate and decided to stay another night on route! I’m SO glad we did! This place is honestly exceptional! We were so kindly upgraded to accommodate baby and give us some extra room. The room was gorgeous - spotlessly clean, light and had everything we needed. Bed was so comfy!! The hotel was spotless too and felt so cosy... fires were lit and interior was all very traditional / authentic. The building is full of history which we learnt all about whilst there which really was fascinating. The staff we met were trained to the best standards and were all so lovely. The dinner we both agreed was the best food we have eaten in a very long time. Our waiter, Anthony, was brilliant… absolute credit to the place and couldn’t do enough to ensure we were looked after. The breakfast was equally as delicious and Tracey who served us was also fabulous! Honestly we would recommend this little gem to anyone and have said we would love to come back again should we be in the area. You don’t come across places like this often!!

First time visit for my wife and I Had the afternoon tea which was a delight. A great selection of teas and coffee to choosefrom. Gorgeous grounds outside to sit in in the warmer weather. Recommend a visit if its a meal or a high tea .

Excellent service. Very clean. Rooms well equipped.

Went to my Niece's wedding. Stopped 2 nights. Room was well equipped and very clean. Nice view over the hills. Breakfast very good. Service was superb.
