Super busy place, so make sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment! Easy to see why it is so popular, the food is epic, the place is absolutely buzzing and the drink options are great. Modern day Indian food done inside an old pub, what more could you want!?

Excellent curry venue with acceptable beer.

Hen & Chickens offers a taste of traditional Punjabi cuisine, with dishes like tindeh sabji, mutter paneer, and channeh on their menu. While the restaurant aims to capture the essence of Punjabi flavors, the execution falls short in some areas. The naans, in particular, lack the authentic taste and texture found in many Punjabi grill establishments. Overall, the food at Hen & Chickens can be described as average. While it satisfies cravings for Punjabi fare, it may not leave a lasting impression compared to other options in the genre.

Nice 'oldy worldy' pub, you can easily miss it if not looking for it, close to the jewellery quarter. They serve a nice selection of Indian dishes. I had a chicken tikka, a little too creamy for me, but good. I'd recommend the mixed grill to meat lovers. We had a selection of things and everything I sampled was tasty and well done. I did come out smelling a bit foody as steam from the food skillets tends to fill the air. There is paid on road parking outside and in the side streets. It's free after 6pm They also provide a take away service. Vegetarian options: They do have a good vegetarian section on the menu Wheelchair accessibility: It is quite an old building with stone steps to get inside. I didn't notice a wheelchair accessible entrance.

Disappointing experience. I have dietary requirements so tried to phone ahead but no answer, so popped in anyway - after being told yes we could be accommodated by one staff member, we bought drinks and sat to fill out an order form. Then a second staff member came to take our form, and asked a third staff member if that could be accommodated - who said no. Really frustrating as if we’d been told no the first time we’d have just moved on without buying drinks, or even better if the phone had been picked up, we’d have gone elsewhere to begin with. Would love to eventually try this place when they’re more open to fulfilling customer requests.

We've been a few times and always really enjoy the food, so we booked to come again on Saturday. Unfortunately the food was just not on par with what it was previously. The fish pakora came out lukewarm and limp - it had clearly been cooked hours earlier and poorly reheated. Naan had a weird aftertaste. Curries were fine, but didn't quite pack the punch they did before. I'm hoping it was a one off so we will give it one more go, but it was a disappointing experience.

Great food, cold beer! What more could you want?
