Harney Oceanside & Lounge

Had a CONFIRMED reservation. Drove up for dinner. When we walked up, there was a sign on the door "closed for private event." No call, no email.

Sat in the back lounge, our server and bartender were great, attentive and we will definitely be going back

Good food. Very fresh. Fun environment

I’m always skeptic when I try new sushi spots because I tend to be a little picky. The restaurant itself is super dark, and has this cool underground vibe to it. When I ordered-our server broke down to me some of their “award winning rolls” and filled me in on the menu. My food was hands down some of the most quality sushi I’ve ever had. I would recommend the Diablo (spicy mango salsa) and the Orange Crush (citrus and refreshing). She suggested subbing yellow tail instead of salmon and it was to die for! Thanks to the Harney Team! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian Rolls!

It just isn't a proper Oceanside vacation without an excited and delightful stop in Harney for another round of sushi! This visit did not disappoint, as if any to Harney could. Today I tried and devoured the Culichi Wa Roll, a festive and filling line of spicy tuna, cucumber, salmon, and avocado in a garlic aioli spray. I knew from a previous visit to pace myself, so I opted for a cucumber salad as appetizer rather than the vast sushi sampler, a meal in itself. I therefore saved room for fried tempura vanilla ice cream. Sara was more than gracious and accommodating with our food orders, and her recommendations aced our evening. We left very happy and thrilled Harney continues to do so well. We will, of course, be back next vacation.

Starting with a cool greeting from the hostess, the night did not improve from there. The sushi quality was a little less than average. We ordered rock shrimp which was not rock shrimp; it was large shrimp with a squishy breading. Our server was great. Also, it's a little bit chilly in the restaurant.
