I recently met a gentleman named Joey, and during our conversation he said he owned Galligaskin's, "the oldest sub shop in Texas."
Since I always like visiting family owned, "heritage" eateries I decided to make a visit for lunch. Before going, I did check their reviews to see what others had said. For my visit I had a great experience with friendly staff, quick service, and a good sub and tator tots.
I ordered the mushroom steak sub, tots and a drink. My sub had a nice portion of steak, melted cheese, and topped with a little lettuce and peppers. I've never had a hot steak sub with lettuce, and while unexpected, it was good. The tots were crispy and hot. The bun was soft and fresh while holding up to the juicy steak and mushrooms.
For added flavor I used the Galligaskin's branded hot sauce, which had a nice roasted pepper profile with a little heat.
For a Saturday afternoon I was lucky and parked next to the front door. Parking could be a challenge during peak times. There was plenty of seating.
Just a little south of the heritage district of Fort Worth, Galligaskin's is worth a visit for a nice lunch or early dinner.
I will never go back to this place again to eat customer service is really bad and they put so much lettuce in your sandwich and they douse it with mayonnaise they are very stingy when it comes to the meat and very pricey and parking sucks
If you're looking for a caterer look no further!!!! I have used Galligaskin's several times now for 70 plus box lunches and they just keep getting better! The food is amazing, the service is outstanding, the prices are great, it's completely stress free!
Great classic sub shop. Not pretentious, food was good served quickly and portions were generous
Food was great, food was out fast good favors A++ staff was friendly
Today is September the 16th approximately 5:30 p.m. I went in there today there was a young lady Latina and I asked her if I could please order a BLT she said what is that I said it's a bacon lettuce and tomato on a sub bun she said no I can't make that so I told her yes you can can you please get someone over here to take my order so then this caucasian lady comes around and she says well we don't make that but I'm going to have to charge you for a turkey plus bacon I said do what you got to do but I want to a BLT and an order of tater tots please so when they brought the sandwich out to me the tater tots we're very hot and crispy and the sandwich was a 4-in sandwich and it was stuffed with lettuce had two small slices of bacon that were about an inch long and the tomatoes had a weird taste to him and the man is they use I did not like it upset my stomach I will not be going back here I did not like the customer service I did not like the food and still on top of that I still left a five-dollar tip in cash because the girl that brought me my food when she brought it to my table she gave me this really dirty look and rolled her eyes at me so I told her I'm sorry that I made you work have a good day I looked at her smiled and walked away
The best sub spot in the DFW hands down . I wouldn’t go anywhere else but here because the food is always fresh and always good.
I love this place. They have the best okra in town, awesome homemade ranch, best sandwiches with fresh bread, and the chopped cherry tomato pickle relish they put on the sandwiches is amazing. I usually order a 10” Galli Deluxe and save half for later. They put the perfect amount of oil on the bread slices to keep the bread from becoming soggy, so it’s perfect when I pull it from the fridge later in the day. Awesome staff, awesome atmosphere, keep it up guys!
My family frequently dined at the Gallagaskins in Richardson in the 70's -80's. We were depressed for years after they closed. Years later we found out about this location. We drove all the way from Plano, it had the same exterior and it had the same familiar smell. The food was still as good as we remembered along with a lot of new items. We try to get in once a year. If I lived close it would be more like once a week.
The food and vibes here are amazing. Definitely going to bring my lady back here for a date.
Great Burgers. I wasn't a fan of their fries but I loves their fried okra.
If you like blue cheese, then Galli's burger special this week is for you! Perfectly seasoned patty and blend of flavors. I am allergic to red onions so Galligaskin's swapped mine for white onions; my husband doesn't like mushrooms so he got a fried egg instead. Great customer service and great food. And if you're not in the mood for a burger, their sandwiches are delicious!
Galligaskins is the best sandwich shop in Fort Worth, hands down. Every item on the menu is fantastic, from their cold subs to their hot subs and burgers. The service is always friendly and quick no matter if you dine in or get it to go. Their Red White & Blue burger is their latest offering and it might be the best burger ever.
If I have the option to eat a sandwich, Galligaskins is my #1 choice! I love this place! The staff is always kind and the food is always delicious. I love the turkey sandwich and my daughter loves the cheesesteak. I also love that they are true to their beliefs and have their faith on display on an outside mural, art inside, by the music they play and that they are closed on Sundays. Highly recommend!
Classic Camp Bowie dining. Been going for years and always leave happy. Good food, friendly staff, a true treasure.
