Fort Defiance, the quintessential Red Hook restaurant, is finally open in its new location, a block away from the original that opened in 2009. A local's paradise, the Fort is operated by the writer/bartender St. John Frizell (of Gage & Tollner). Dinner and world-class drinks are served in a beautiful new barroom (entrance at 89 Wolcott Street) located behind the Fort Defiance General Store . The bar and restaurant is open Wednesday-Sunday, 5-11pm, with brunch Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm. The general store is open 10am to 7pm daily, offering breakfast and lunch sandwiches, organic produce, fresh bread and pastries, delicious prepared foods, and a wide variety of locally sourced grocery items, primarily from the Hudson Valley.
