Very pleased with the service!
I had a most amazing experience here today; we are in town from Illinois visiting family and we wanted to have brunch. I have pork allergies and the menu did not have turkey or chicken sausage options (I'm eggs & sausage guy). I would have gladly made something else work but the owner quickly offered to run to the store and bring in turkey sausage for me, WOW! Great food, outstanding service, great value! This place is definitely worth a visit!
We frequent CJs fairly regularly The last few years. The food is spot on most of the time, but that isn't always consistent. The last few times have been great though. Mixed drinks are another story. They are very watered down. We don't drink often but when we do we can feel it, when appropriate portions of alcohol are used, usually takes 1 drink. We got 1 drink felt nothing, ended up getting 4 doubles and did not get any affect. If you like beer I'm sure your fine, but I wouldn't bother spending your money on mixed drinks here.
The smell is the first thing I notice. It does not smell like food cooking, it smells like sanitation.. which I'm all for a clean restaurant, but the whole place smells like Cleaning chemicals. The food is average at best. Beer is nice and cold. Service has always been good there for us. We have been there maybe 5 times in the 7 years we have lived close by. We are picky about food so maybe others would give it a 4, but in my book it's just ok. Some stuff is homemade and is good, other stuff lacks flavor and is nothing special. You could do worse.
We were pretty disappointed with CJ's and if I could give 2 1/2 stars, that would be more approriate. It's certainly an attractive place inside, despite being in a strip mall. I had the chicken fried steak which was obviously frozen and tasted it. Not a great texture. The mash seemed homemade and tasty, although a bit lumpy and thin. Gravy wasn't bad. The mixed veg were good and bad. The zucchini was just right while the carrots weren't bad and the broccoli was hard and crunchy. One guest had a ruben and gave it double thumb's up. It looked great with a ton of meat on marble rye. The other had the chicken mushroom linguini. Flavor was decent enough but there weren't enough mushrooms and the chicken was cooked about 5 minutes too long. It was quite tough. Noodles were OK. Our server was pleasant enough, but delivered our food and then didn't show again until we were done. They have a great beer and cocktail menu, which we didn't sample. At a little over $70 for 3, value was OK, not great. We would give it another try.
Under new management. Not near the quality it used to be. New management is terrible
Small space for loud music, although band was very good, great medley of tunes, good food and drinks.
