Café Gabriela

Cafe Gabriela was founded in 2010 by Penny Baldado, a formerly undocumented, queer immigrant from the Philippines. The cafe is named after the honorable Gabriela Silang, a Filipina revolutionary who led a revolt against Spanish colonizers on the archipelago. We keep her courageous and passionate spirit alive by making a conscious effort to support our local community in Oakland and in the Bay Area. Please enjoy the space that we have created here! We’re committed to building with the community and providing a safe, welcoming space for our workers, customers, and friends.
