My first time to BYOV. It's a very casual restaurant. Some TVs, music Playing, no bathroom but next door at Nana's. Service was friendly but not quick. I would say BYOB bring your own beverages. There's no where to refill your drinks and no real server. Perhaps go to the counter. The food: Cons: the sushi. I've been vegan 7 years. This was the worst vegan sushi I've ever had. The menu offers: shrimp, crab, avocado, tempura fried. Instead it was all tofu. We got 4 different rolls and they all tasted the same. Bland tofu wrapped in rice topped with tofu, drizzled with various sauces. Loosely wrapped rolls that fell apart. Honestly, the worst, so plain. I've had amazing vegan sushi before, it is possible. Sushi with sweet potato, asparagus, avocado, sautéed eggplant, vegan protein substitutes like Good Catch, Oshen, Gardein. The menu said all these variations and no, nope, nada. All bland tofu. Pro: nachos. I forgot to take a picture but it was good. We got nachos with chorizo. Good chips, cheese, jalapeños. In summary, this establishment desperately needs a lane to stay in and focus on. Don't offer terrible sushi and okay Mexican. Offer great Mexican or great sushi. If it is to be sushi... please give the menu and major facelift. Minimize the use of tofu, focus on creativity, explore more vegetables, protein options, and sushi rolling skills.
