I am extremely disappointed with this location, the employees is extremely rude and disrespectful. I ordered food online for delivery and called way in advance to put in utensils for my order because I am at work and do not have utensils. I received my order and there was no utensils. I then called the restaurant asking if someone can delivery some utensils since it’s their fault and the guy that was on the phone said we aren’t able to do that, and I told him that I called way in advance you guys should be able to do something about that, he then put me on hold without telling me and I was on the phone saying hello for about 2 minutes. I then recalled and I guess you’re able to see the phone number that calls so he just hanged it up, then I took my other phone and called and he answered and then continued to put me on hold after I said I just called you and you hung up and then he was yelling saying we can’t do that, you can either order food so you can get your chopsticks or eat with your hands, after that I just hung up. This is the worst customer service I have ever received in my lifetime.
Had 4 drumsticks for $18. It was so overcooked that you couldn't even bite into it. Had to peel off over fried skin and it was like a rock surrounding chicken. So disappointing.
Can never find anything better than the crunchy wings at Bonchon! Friendly staff, great food, great service!
This place literally offers no service. I came here for the first time. The person working at the counter didn't greet me nor asked me whether I have any questions with the menu. When I received my order, I had to ask for everything, including a cup for water and napkins. This place just lost a new customer.
Quality? Good, but not worth the price.
Price? High, more than 19$ for 6 pieces of Chicken wings and 2 medium to small size sides (without any fountain drink and excluding tip) not worth it, much better similar options are available around the area.
Taste? Well, not great, but not bad
I had stopped going to Bonchon's a while ago as I've just not had great experiences. However, I do realize that Bonchon's are franchised restaurants so each Bonchon experience might vary greatly, and that's what happened at this location.
I was in Reston to visit family that was visiting from out of town and settled on this place to meet and eat lunch.
I wish I could chalk it up to just me having low expectations for the place but the food was genuinely delicious. We got Shumai, Japchae, Takoyaki, and the Combo (wings and drums) with both Soy Garlic and Spicy flavors. The food was all better than I expected, especially the chicken. Crispy, flavorful, fresh and MOIST. UGH I felt like it was the first time I had Korean Fried Chicken all over again, kinda like forgetting the plot of a great movie and getting to enjoy it all over again.
I would imagine these wings are best enjoyed in-store, as take-out will let the steam/sauce soften up the breading on the chicken. Dine-in at the restaurant for the bone-in wings and you shan't be disappointed.
We also got to meet Wendy, who I believe is the owner? She was so nice and caring and a pleasure to chat with. Saw her interacting with a police officer that came in to pick up lunch and she hooked him up with something extra, though I didn't hear exactly what it was. Anyways, I like this place and I hardly ever write reviews. Will be back next time I'm back in Reston. Until then!
We ordered up a storm here and left so happy.
• japchae: perfect ratio of veggies, meat, and chewy potato noodles.
• half soy garlic and half spicy wings- they came out piping hot, crispy, and flavorful
• tteokbuki/spicy rice cakes: cheesy and delicious
We appreciate the clean and fast-casual dining atmosphere where the food is the star. Highly recommend this location!
Great place and great location. Staff was very kind no issue there. The only thing was the chicken was DRY...sauce was not helping at all to make it juicy. This is the second time the food was meh... expensive for the size of the chicken.
Worst Bonchon location of all. Bad service from an entitled, unfriendly staff member. Food was room temperature. And had to wait 15 min for a simple order. Boneless chicken wings are simply frozen chicken nuggets, so don't even bother with them. They're a grift. Onion rings made me sick. Hard pass. Bye Felicia.
We ordered garlic potstickers, bimbibop with bulgogi, and bulgogi with rice with two bottled drinks and ate in. I liked the bimbibop, qualitywas okay. The restaurant is clean but more of a takeout place. They could improve decor to liven up the mood and provide better dinnerware (we had black plastic containers and cheap forks) to help customers enjoy the food and dining experience.
I want to like this brand like I used to 7-8 years ago (used to order maybe once every 3 weeks) but recently every time I go back (this location and others) I just feel let down. A 20 piece boneless and the Korean tacos used to feed two people with some leftover for the next day. Now a 20 piece resembles an order of popcorn chicken and 1 person can finish it no problem. You used to get a spicy mayo with every 10 pieces of chicken; now (like within the last 5 years) it’s $0.95 each. The orders used to be quite hot when you picked up to go; now they are barely warm when the bag is handed over to you. We ordered a pork bun and a Korean taco the last time we went; they are supposed to have the spicy mayo on both orders and they had nothing. We were trying to eat on the go but we had to wait until we got home to have the privilege of making our own spicy mayo for our order. I don’t know how many cooks there were but they had 3 people working the pick up / delivery orders and no dine in service; how could it take 3 people to handle the pickups? The kitchen can’t keep up with orders, there’s too many people checking names on the pickup orders, and the chain has been shrinkflating their offerings for the past 6 years. It’s probably going to be another two years before I give this place another chance to disappoint me.
Update: I’ve got a pretty strong stomach so when I tell you this place gave me really bad food poisoning the next day, you need to believe me. I was in physical pain from 5 am until 11 pm and there was no way I got this from my home made meals. My partner also had the same symptoms so buyer beware.
It might be unfair to blame the whole franchise for this final straw but with the prices they charge and the quality of their food I think I’m done getting ripped off.
Shrinkflation and cost cutting measures are really ruining this restaurant chain. The food always tastes great, but the boneless chicken pieces keep getting smaller plus no more free spicy mayo. They even left off the spicy mayo off the pork buns and tacos this time. The chicken used to be the size of your palm if not bigger, and now they are small popcorn pieces. This is a problem across all bonchons, not just this location. Super disappointing.
Edit to this review: after eating bonchon, we where up all night with severe stomach cramping and nausea.
Average over breaded k-chicken, limited boring sauce options, really mild spicy option... Idk.. play some K-pop
They gave me 1 extra wing :)
Hands down best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Crunchy from the outside and juicy on the inside. Restaurant atmosphere is great and very clean. The service was great and the food came out pretty fast. Overall 5 stars. Thank you!!
