Blade 1936

*Review based on vegan options only*  We came into Blade when they first opened because we heard they had some good vegan options.  We left that visit feeling somewhat underwhelmed but chalked it up to them being new.  Recently, we have heard about some additional options and great flavors so, we thought we would give them another shot. The good: 1. The ambiance and building are charming, and the hosts are super friendly. 2. The "crispy cauliflower" appetizer was terrific. 3. Great wine selection  The not so good:1. The Vegan options are simply omissions of ingredients; there seems to be no attempt to enhance the dish. 2. The food quality does not justify the cost. $20 for a simple risotto is obnoxious. 3. One of the staff accidentally knocked a wine glass and spilled some wine into a fresh dish (Risotto) delivered to the table (no big deal accidents happen, not their fault). The dish was re-fired quicky, we have to assume too quickly because it was honestly the worst risotto either of us had ever tasted.  Our server never acknowledged the incident and didn't even offer top of the lost wine. My suggestion (unsolicited as it may be):Consult with a plant-based chef and make some simple adjustments to the "vegan" offerings.  You have the potential to do something really cool here with your plant-based menu. Otherwise, don't worry about trying to appease the vegans, we have other options, and you've got plenty of excellent reviews on the rest of your menu.

A couple weeks ago I proposed to my fiance on the beach and took her to dinner at blade after. Blade was more than accommodating. They made sure there were flowers and champagne on the table when we arrived and provided great service the entire dinner. Special thanks to the hostess Grace who made the whole thing happen as well as the owner who was more than happy to help us celebrate this occasion. The food and champagne was amazing as always.

1st time at the restaurant and it meant all my expectations. The owner came by every table and introduced himself and thanked us for our business. Can't wait to go back again.

5 stars isn't enough. Pizza is the star of the show but don't sleep on the rest of the menu. Tuna tartar was plate licking good.

A great Italian restaurant, food was really good and not expensive. We had a group of 8 and no one was disappointed. The atmosphere was light and very friendly. Attentive service without being intrusive.

A great menu and service. I would probably try somemthin different next time but my wife's veal parmigane (sp) was great. The candied walnut salad was also very good.

A nice bounce back, we once again ordered the potato gnocchi fungi, a bit sheepishly bc while the first time we tried them during the opening they were phenomenal- the last few orders of this have been under cooked and under sauced. We did order extra sauce this time, and the dish was very, very good. Also ordered the burrata and prosciutto (always great) and the calamari fritti. Sadly, this fell short. While I expected more calamari we ended up with breads shrimp and zucchini a few calamari rings. If you want perfect calamari fritti - Minnelli in Little Italy (hands down the best).<br /><br />Also disappointed they were out of the Nero d’avala wine. The meat lovers pizza cooked well done was also on point.

1st timer to this place, honestly didn't even knew it existed but small group of us were hungry late Friday ( around 10 pm) and place we went to originally was closed for food so someone suggested here. So glad we  tried! Staff so friendly and  fast to accommodate any needs or questions we had. Upon being seated , water is poured and delicious bowl of lotus chips are placed to munch while going over menu. I ordered the Gorgonzola pizza, enough for one and even leftover  to take home depending on appetite, pizza no joke tasted like if I i had ordered in Italy ( yes I have been there so comparison is ok right??) cute and cozy inside, wish I had taken  pix of decor and menu but next time!

3 of the 4 of us were very pleased with our food. Noise level so loud we could not have any conversation until 2 tables close by all left. Any chance you will open more days for lunch?
