Birrieria Chalio is a family own restaurant that started as a back yard cook out. Chalio was a middle age man who was struggling to provide to his family, knowing his family's Birria recipe, he decided to start selling it. This back yard cook out turned into a business. For more than 30 years, Birrieria Chalio still uses the same recipe, the same fresh ingredients and stays authentic to their roots providing one of the most tasteful handmade tortillas in East Los Angeles and Boyle Heights. Chalio passed on the Birria recipe to his kids and now, Jose, the current owner hopes to pass on this recipe to his kids. More than just food, every plate of Birria contains a piece of history from the family and their natal town in Zacatecas, Mexico.
