Birch

I live close to Birch and didn’t know what I’d been missing all this time. My husband and I took some guests in from out of town, and we all loved everything that graced the table. I’m 99% vegetarian, so I loved the cabbage starter with raclette and the ricotta pasta. The contramar fish was beautiful, too. The music in the joint was great; I noticed some New Orleans-style big band music, which made for such a unique atmosphere here in Milwaukee. Excellent spot for special dinner, can’t wait to visit again.

My wife has wanted to eat at Birch for awhile, and we were able to get reservations last night. We sat at the "Chef's Table" so she could watch the food preparation in action and we had the curated Tasting Menu. First off, everything on the tasting menu was outstanding. It was so good we probably could have eaten another round even though we were definitely full. The staff was extremely friendly. We talked with our server, the maitre d, and the chef himself! Kyle even took a photo with my wife who is a big fan of Bravo Top Chef & award winning chefs in general. It's really great to get a restaurant like this in Milwaukee. Just a must-visit spot for anyone who loves amazing food and atmosphere. Parking: It took two laps, but we were able to get street parking nearby.

I just had the best time ever. I'm so happy that I chose to visit this restaurant on my vacation. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes good food, and in particular, enjoyed the tasting menu. I was worried about doing the tasting menu as a single person, but the staff made me as comfortable as can be. It was perfect!

Excellent food, but it was very overpriced for the portion size (walleye entree). Wine menu is grossly overpriced for what looked like a 4oz pour. Probably not the place you want to eat at if you are really hungry, unless you are willing to drop $100+/head to feel satisfied.

Probably in my top 5 meals. I had the trout crudo starter, which tasted amazing and looked beautiful. I also had the walleye and they couldn’t have cooked it more perfectly. Drinks were creative, tasty and beautifully constructed.

The burger (it's served in the bar only) has been on my list to try for a while. It didn't disappoint! The flavor was PERFECTLY balanced for a tasty blend of flavors that made me savor every bite! It was paired with a delectable side of potato salad to boot. I will be back to try other entrees in the restaurant. This Chef knows flavor combinations!

I want to personally thank all the staff that made the experience special. Kyle did a phenomenal job with the bar burger, to say I was blow away may be an understatement. A special congratulations on the James beard award, I was hoping to congratulate in person during my experience but I hope this review serves in its place. The potato salad was unique with a hint of lime and paired perfectly with the burger. The birch wood fired grill out the burger over the top. The bar staff made some of the best cocktails I’ve had in the city and never missed a beat. The entire restaurant was clean and esthetically pleasing. The leaf wallpaper against the dark tile and the natural wood made the restaurant feel vibrant yet calming. Ariel the pastry chef made the best canelé cake. The parsnip crème brute was different yet I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the earthy and sweet flavors. Overall this restaurant I hope is here to stay. A solid 10/10 experience.
