Barwest

Me and my friends were excited to go to Barwest, but were told at the door that we couldn't go in because I was wearing jordan's. He didn't even recognize my shoes were jordan's at first and had to ask me what type of shoes I had on. I was wearing AJ1 Lows, which looked very similar to the dunks everyone else was getting let in with. We initially thought it was a joke because the security guy said dunks and air forces were fine, just not jordan's, and we found that rule ridiculous. The security guy started to get more aggressive towards us and would not explain the reasoning for the rule, he just said that's how it is. When my friends and I were out of line looking for a place to go, he continued to yell at us for being curious what other shoes people were wearing. We were not being disruptive or making a scene, just watching as other people were let in, but he proceeded to verbally harass us. We watched him send away a guy for wearing jordan's, but he was much more chill and understanding towards him. The way he treated my friends and I felt misogynistic and rude. There's no signage saying the dress code or anything on their website currently. My friends and I have been to Barwest several times and love going there on Thursdays. I have been let in wearing those shoes before, which is why I assumed it would be fine to wear them again. If they're going to enforce a strict dress code, they should at least be consistent about it and have it posted somewhere. It doesn't make sense that the dress code depends on who's at the front.

Loved the atmosphere upon arriving but after sitting down and waiting over 15 minutes with no one as much as even addressing us, we walked out. There were three people working behind the bar, two chatting with each other so it's not even a matter of it being a busy lunch time.

Cute place but couldn't even be acknowledged despite not being busy.

Google this place it comes up as a sports bar. On Instagram business page says bar. On yelp says sports bar. Security: You can’t come in with sneakers because this is a club. Me: BARwest is a club? Him: Yes. Me: ‍♀️ If you don’t want black people here just say that.

$20 cover and “no jordans”. But I saw multiple people inside with jordans.

Friendly staff (for a newly open place), tasty food (Caesar salad with grilled shrimp ), well made alcoholic drinks and clean environment of dining room. It was an improvement to finding so few people out and about in Midtown Sac. Although I would advise the staff to close the acrylic garage door when so few people are insides to cut the cold air drafty atmosphere at 17:00 hours. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy wheelchair access entrance and bathrooms. Entrance door was left open for entrance. Bathroom door handle 3" from floor and smooth action.

Great bar food.

Stopped here to watch a little bit of some football. They have a lot of TVs so perfect with that, the food was real good. Ordered pulled pork sliders 10/10 and a steak salad 8/10. Had some fatty parts in the steak was hard to chew. The waitress was not my favorite. She brought the sliders and then I had to tell her to get my salad 10 min after our sliders. Also I saw her go upstairs for a while as i waited for my food. So that was a miss. Atmosphere was ok, sticky tables, our seats were a bit sunken in. Total was 41$. Only had water

Racist faculty and company

Stopped in for some lunch while taking my dog to the park. It was during the day at the start of the week so the place was pretty empty. I split the pulled pork sliders and a Cesar Salad with my husband. We thought the food was great. Our dog was able to sit at the bar with us since the garage doors were open. My husband was a fan of “the wall” to see replays from sports for the week. The bartender was very nice. We chatted with another couple that sat down and they said they loved their food too. Can’t remember what they were eating. I asked my friend (who is a local) if he had ever been there and he said he had a few times to watch some games and while it had gotten busy sometimes he has never had a bad experience. Prices were comparable with other establishments we have been too.
