Barolo Bar & Restaurant

Excellent high quality food with attentive service. Visited this evening as a group of 11 people for a surprise birthday meal. We arrived 10/15 minutes early and the table was already prepared and even had a high chair seated at the table already as requested. The waiters were friendly and took our drinks order promptly as members of our party arrived at different times. I had the King Prawns in white wine sauce and they were phenomenal. I believe you can always tell the quality of a restaurant based on their prawns and they were fantastic. For my main course I had the Risotto Pollo and, again, this was excellent - the seasoning and flavour was spot on. I did think the portion looked quite small however, the size was deceiving and I was comfortably full after. One of the children in our party didnt have a starter, and she was upset when others were eating and she wasn't - the waiter picked up on this and kindly asked if she'd like her main to be cooked sooner and brought to the table which was a nice touch. I also ordered a meatballs and spaghetti dish for my ten month old and as she's a baby she did make quite a mess and the staff were not phased at all (I have been to cafes / restaurants were the messy eating is frowned up). All kids meals come with a dessert of ice cream. I will definitely be returning, thank you for such a wonderful meal. We only re- found this restaurant at Christmastime and have returned a couple of times since. Great , friendly service and lovely food too.

Came early Saturday eve. Waiter quick to get us to order, first drinks came out fast. Then after this is was all down hill. Food was uninspiring, sauces tasted bought in, pizza was awful and undercooked dough, pasta was ok, portion was small. Scallops tasted funny, left them. Meatballs awful. Nobody came to check on food, waitress took empty glasses but didn’t ask if we wanted any more drinks. Nobody asked how our meal was even though we left a lot of food. Even as we paid, nobody asked how it was. After returning home, a couple of us fell unwell. Don’t want to be unfair and say it was definitely the food, but it was a coincidence. The only positive was the atmosphere and setting. We liked the fire pit in the middle. I personally wouldn’t recommend, especially if it’s a special occasion, don’t risk it.
