I find it rude that you must sit in the bar and order alcohol to get a taco Tuesday "deal" which is not a deal to begin with and the forced alcohol order. Then, the bar seating is so limited we were forced to get a regular table and the restaurant refused any taco Tuesday "deals". So this place is not on my repeat list of restaurants. The food was slightly above average in flavor, the portions were good. Parking: On site parking is limited but odds are with the poor way of doing business, you will get a spot.

4/21/24 (Sunday) We flew into San Diego for work. Since early 79 I have been a huge fan of the Anita’s restaurant, #1, 2 (both locations) and the El Camino location. My wife and her co-worker chose the El Camino location after we discovered the Oceanside location was not open till 4:00pm. When we arrived, there was no greeting, and a “grouch” sat us at a booth. Appetizers were the fajitas nachos…they were almost tasteless with minimal cheese and meat…essentially paying for chips. One of the items ordered was a crispy quesadilla…I think…it was fried flour tortilla with cheese melted on top…basically an oily mess. Another was the beef shredded tacos…another oily mess. We order a cup of queso…this was a water boiling soup…when we let the grouch know…she said “that is the way it is at this location”. I don’t recall if she ever took it off the bill. One of the favorite items was always the salsa…in the past we have ordered several pint to take home; even shipping via FedEx…it was that good. The stuff served was not the same in any sense of previous salsa we had…it had an orange color and did not taste at all like what Anita’s has served for years. I have no issue with rising cost of food in restaurants, however, at this location, we seriously over paid for poor customer service and a very poor quality of food. When established restaurants become complacent and allow their standards to fall…they should expect constructive criticism and comments on the product and services. Since we are still in town, we are going to the Oceanside location tonight…hoping for a better experience than what we had on Sunday…my recommendation for this location going forward is not to recommend this location to anyone. Yes, the grouch still received 20% on the tab…she is only part if the process and we are sympathetic to servers…that is tough gig! Jim WB

I have gone twice in the past week and after reading the reviews, I too have a newborn and can share in similar experiences with how they are with children. She puts us in a booth where it was so congested with a new server (he walked twice while we tried to order to get help with the tablet) when we have a stroller and Car seat the first time we walk in when there was so many tables open on the other side by a few small groups of people. Fine, it is what it is but the second time we went the same hostess put us in a booth with a stroller again on a Sunday where it’s almost dead at opening. The food is good, meat was dry in our tacos but the service could definitely be better. I love the Anita’s on coast highway a lot better. Their service is way better too. If you have children choose you might want to choose another option, they clearly don’t care to accommodate families with kids. The foods good, but not good enough to tolerate that.

Best Mexican food in the area by far. Best queso dip I’ve ever had. Always free chips & salsa, & amazing house margaritas & happy hour specials, etc. Delicious enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, & more. Cute, cozy, & friendly, fast service. We love this place!
