This is our second time back since they reopened and unfortunately, it was not a great experience. The weather was a little overcast, so it was VERY slow for a Friday evening. Maybe five tables total. We stood at the host stand for a couple minutes before finally poking our heads inside because no one ever came out. Three servers were standing there chatting. When we asked to sit outside so we could watch our kids play, they did bus the one empty table, but then we sat for ten minutes with no menus and no one taking our order. When he did come around- it took another five minutes for him to bring menus and then another ten before he came back to get our order and drink order. The server at the table next to us argued with the couple there that nachos were not on special for happy hour. Which is in contradiction to the ad that is all over Facebook. Our server forgot our kids drinks and our frog dip. When ten more minutes went by with nothing, my husband went inside to ask, and again he was standing there chatting. When he did bring their drinks (kids cups with lids), no straws. Food was just okay… I got the Texan plate. My carne guisada and refried beans had a few crusty bits and weren’t warm. My husband’s quesadillas were only filled halfway with meat and cheese- so lots of bites were just tortilla. Super sad because we are local. I grew up coming to Adobe Verde. Even under new management, it’s not up to the old standard. We were excited about another spot with a playground for the kiddos, but we will take our business to Herbert’s instead.

As a New Braunfels native, this place has gone way downhill. I heard they were making changes and I decided to try it but it was terrible. We stopped in specifically because their menu on their website shows they have a chile relleno, but we got there and were told that they actually didn’t have that and that the menu had changed. Chips taste like they’re out of a bag and salsa was watered down and there was almost no flavor. Decided to try a small queso because that had to be better than the salsa but it was also watery and had almost no flavor. My friend got the crispy chicken tacos and said they were just okay, but the rice was so salty it was inedible. I got the asada fries thinking that they couldn't mess that up but the cheese wasn't melted cheese like I thought it would be, it was the same weird watery cheese that the queso was made with and the asada was super tough and tasted gamey. Considering their new, higher prices, I definitely recommend going elsewhere as New Braunfels has Mexican restaurants that are significantly better than this one. If you’re just visiting and you’re in Gruene, venture outside of Gruene just a bit and there are tons of more authentic and better tasting Mexican restaurants nearby.

The food was not good and I think it was microwaved.

Best food in the area!! Been there at least 20 times. Greeted by a nice gentleman and seated with chips and salsa. Very sweet waitresses. Kelsey is MY favorite always gives me a big hug! She knows what I am going to order. Always take home food for my son. Highly recommend ADOBE VERDE to everyone all ages. Parking: Very close.

I miss the old Verde. I was craving the “famous” Frog Dip and was super excited to try the new and improved Adobe. We stopped in around 2 on a Saturday as a group of 4. Our server mixed up our drink orders multiple times. No big deal. The margaritas were not fully frozen. No biggie. We had to ask multiple times to get napkins and we were never brought or offered water. Whatever, maybe they’re short staffed. But boy, the food was subpar. The frog dip is nothing like the original - it’s runny, and had a layer of oil sitting on top. The original frog dip was thick, with substance to it. The flavor was not even close to correct. The chips were obviously not made in house, and the salsa was flavorless. I ordered the flautas and they were good, though the beans tasted (and looked) like they came straight out of a can. Overall, it was a disappointment. There are so many other tex mex options in NB, I don’t think we’ll be back. Total bummer because the renovation looks nice, and the location has a great history behind it.

This was my go to place in Gruene, but it has lost its luster. Food went downhill and server was in no hurry to get me another beer. There are allot better Mexican restaurants in NB, don't bother going here...
