5 De Mayo Mexican Restaurant

I just remember the food was over cooked and very bland. There were things a Mexican restaurant should have like crema. The guacamole was dark and old. Which we didn’t even touch because of the appearance. Never going here again.

Up here working on a job since last January, first Mexican restaurant I've tried. Nothings ever like your favorite place back home, but it wasn't bad. I was concerned at first, dinner time, and I was the only customer in the place. Made me wonder why. Up here from Tennessee, little costly! More like twice the price.

Good food. Big portions. It's a small place but you could sit down. Maybe reserve in advance if you are a larger group of 5 or more. They also have vegetarian options and you can easily make things vegan by asking for no cheese or sour cream.

Small family owned Mexican restaurant serving large portions. Friendly staffs and very hospitable. Food is delicious and authentic. I like the molé enchiladas. It is so difficult to find a place that serve molé. Service could be better. Only 3 workers so it was difficult to flag someone to get refills on water. Place is also dark and not much lighting inside.

I feel like prices for drinks and food are terrible expensive. They don’t offer any happy hour and not promotion at all. A virgen pina colada about $9?! That’s crazy you pay for a virgin drink what you could pay for a very good cocktail in other places. Also we ordered a Queso Fundido appetizer which is supposed to be an appetizer for a table and it just come with 3 flour tortillas and if you ask for more tortilla they charge you around 2 dollars per order of 3 tortillas. I feel that they food and drinks aren’t enough good to be that expensive. Also that there are not enough workers at the place so it’s really complicated to get refills and they are always too busy on weekends.

We researched the menu and the prices before going in, and they were reasonable. When we got the bill, the prices were doubled, This restaurant gouches the costumers.

To be honest all we ordered was too salty, we ate a little bit but we were not happy at all. The al pastor tacos was really salty and also the shrimps tacos were not well done and too salty too.

Made reservations 4 days in advance, i called the day of to add one person to the reservation and they did not have my reservation down. However the person still wrote my information and adjusted the reservation. They called me at 5pm the day of, to tell me i was not going to be accommodated until 9pm. 9pm was too late and they said they couldn’t do anything about it. Eventually i asked to speak to the manager yessenia. She asked what happened and said she would call me back. I never received a call back from her and when i called back to speak to her the gentleman on the phone Frank I believe was his name said she was busy and could not pick up the phone. He then suggested i go to their new location which was in farmingdale. Reservations were moved to that location and I regret not having gone elsewhere! Their second location was horrible! Absolutely horrible! No professionalism at all in this place.

Really like this place a lot. Nice service, real good food. Wish I would see more support from locals here! Each time I go, not a lot of people. Trust me. You’ll like it! In an area where there are not a lot of Mexican restaurants, this is a gem.
