After years of attempting to try the famous Omnitsky Kosher at Oak and W.41st Ave, we finally did it today. It was hard for us to take time off work because they only open during office hours. And what a treat we had today for our Easter Monday lunch. We arrived at the shop shortly after they opened to avoid any possible lineups. We ordered the Noah's Ark: Pastrami, Chopped Liver, and Coleslaw wedged between two crunchy, chewy Ciabatta buns. We opted for Dijon mustard. The sandwich also comes with half a pickle. The Pastrami was fatty, smokey, salty, and tender and melted in your mouth. The pate was so delicious and sweet, which balanced out the saltiness of the Pastrami. The Coleslaw adds a refreshing crunch to the bite. And the Ciabatta were very toasty and chewy, wrapping the whole meal into a delightful package. So juicy and flavourful. The not-so-sour pickle cleanses your palate in between bites. The fantastic old-school deli experience is definitely worth the money. As some of the comments suggest, their Pastrami is as good as you can get in New York. The shop is as tidy, clean and organized as you can get. The selection of products is not huge, but all the essentials are there. The staff are friendly and helpful as well. It was a mess eating the sandwich. But cleverly, they installed a round white above-counter ceramic sink at the corner for you to have a quick clean-up!

I have been looking for a good Reuben sandwich for awhile now so I finally had time to try this place out. So far, I am enjoying this sandwich. I learned that, according to Jewish law, they can not have meat and dairy cooked together. The difference between a traditional Reuben and one made by a Jewish deli is the absence of cheese. I'm OK with that because I'm after the sour taste from the Sauerkraut. I'll be looking into other places as well but this is the beginning of my Reuben adventure.
