Atmosphere/Location: Small but chic bakery with outdoor seating. Lines get very long and they sell out, so come early! Bright, lots of enthusiastic folks outside. Service: I just picked up pastries with a friend but after reading these reviews…YIKES. Owner needs an attitude check and y’all are rude. Just like biting into that wet sunken under mess was . Food: the chocolate almond croissant was very flaky. Somewhat won over by the chocolate filling — it was very melty and not soild chunks the way other pain au chocolat has been. It tasted not like the sour weirdness of hershey’s and not quite as tangy as nutella but with the depth of almost dark chocolate, like a dark-milk chocolate . Very memorable and the star of the croissant. Deducting 1 star for food because the middle was not fully baked through. The center was wet and goopy. Not in a soft, endearing way. In a you are not properly laminating your pastries and this is raw way.
Flaky, crispy, buttery, creamy and sweet (but not too sweet) x
I was led here by the Instagram feed which always knows and shows the best spots in town. It definitely was not wrong! We took a chance and headed there on a Saturday morning, already knowing it would be chaotic. However, we lucked out on an open parking spot a block away so we knew it was meant to be! Although the line was about half a block from the door, it moved quickly thanks to the efficient staff running the small shop. We ordered the plain croissant, chocolate, almond and ham and cheese. The first two were HEAVENLY and shattered into beautiful buttery bits with every bite. What's even more magical is the chocolate that was used inside the croissant. It stayed creamy throughout, without any trace of hard unbaked bits. I'd venture to say it was a luxurious experience having a dessert-level croissant for breakfast :) The others were good but a bit heavy handed in some parts, like the super rich cheese or the very generous almond paste which made them overwhelming. Next time, we'll stick to ordering the basics! And next time can't come soon enough... Eager to see how their new location by the Chase Center will do!
Coffee was no good, ordered carmel Macchiato and got an espresso shot.
Best croissant I’ve ever had! The line can grow long but it moves relatively quickly, we waited 20 minutes on a Sunday morning.
The chocolate almond croissant was too sweet to my liking, I would get a plain one instead.
