Gumbo Shop

We went for dinner around 6 on a Friday night. We were seated quickly and our waiter came right to us. We were given water but weren't offered other drink choices. Which we would have gotten if asked. Our waiter was very quick and knowledgeable about what he recommended. We had the crab cakes which were absolutely amazing. I got the Crawfish Etouffe. We had some gumbo and Crawfish pasta too. It was all amazing. Definitely will be back in our future travels. Their garlic hot sauce is soooo good too. Put it on everything.

I was visiting for my first time and on my birthday. I was greeted well and wished a happy birthday. I waited 9 minutes for a water because it was 1 server. Ashley however, was doing everything she could to serve her 9 tables on her own. I expected some type of vibe to build off, maybe music playing. When I ask a different employee about music, she stated "we don't even have Internet". People are suppose to "stick and move" I really wanted to enjoy this experience but it was more of an wait than a good experience. I enjoy the service Ashley gave me during my meal and after

TOURISTS BEWARE: the gumbo, both seafood and meat option, are not that good. Visited here because we thought that with a name like gumbo shop they would have a good gumbo. Wrong. The seafood gumbo was ok, but had like 2 tablespoons of seafood and they put a crab leg that was too small to crack open and eat. The chicken and andouile gumbo was again, just ok. Not much meat and very plain tasting. The crab cake and bread pudding were the best. Perhaps this place should call themselves crab cake and bread pudding shop. Better gumbo can be found at cochons. Gumbo seems to otherwise be a dish that true locals make and eat at home. Not worth it to purchase it at the gumbo shop.
