Fin & Fino

One of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. Definitely more of a special occasion restaurant, but the food is amazing. Great seafood, oysters, and their vegetables are the BEST

We went for a birthday, and the restaurant made no mention of it. We sat way in the back corner round table for six, which was quieter than the main dining area. The problem is the service was so slow. Drinks took 30 min. A coke refill was never offered and took 20 min when we finally asked. Thank goodness they let me keep the water bottle or we would have been so thirsty. Our food was fast, but given how small the portions are, and how many we ordered, they should’ve cleared our dishes faster. We ended up stacking them to make space. I had hoped for a little more attention given there were three servers covering our area there in the back room. But our server never saw us. Only came by when we managed to make eye contact and wave him down, and then repeatedly forgot our requests. Plates. Bread. Dessert menu. (Which was the same paper menu but we did not notice). The 18% tip we left was for the speedy food and good birthday karma. He deserved 10%. The food itself was good. Pastas were delicious. We tried ten dishes. I would not order the oysters again. Nor the shrimp cocktail. Nor the baby octopus. But the poke salad was a hit. And I loved the mussels in the curry sauce. Cheek butt was good. The furikake fries were so good. Even cold! The coconut cake was a bit dry but that might’ve been intentional. Parking: I couldn’t find the free parking lot so ended up in paid parking. I called the restaurant but no one answers during dinner so I just parked where I could.

While our server did a fine job, the food was mediocre. Grilled cajun oysters tasted like an overload of sweet paprika. Scallops overseasoned and trout under-seasoned. Clearly an amateur chef who doesn't understand flavors.

We arrived at lunchtime, so we were offered a limited lunch menu with a party of 8. We got seated right away. A few of us got the same dishes, lobster and shrimp roll (2 people), Bison Burger (3 people), Grilled Chicken House Salad (1 person), Poke Bowl (1 person), and the Salmon Dish (1 person). We ordered drinks and waited a little bit for those and then it also took a little bit for someone to come take our orders. I got the Rumless Punch, which was good. After putting in our orders, we got the oysters in a timely manner, and then our main dishes a bit after. The food was all good, and I would say it had decent pricings.

We love food. Visiting from Chicago, my husband and I were looking to experience Charlotte and picked Fin & Fino based on Southern Living recs. We had an incredible time, truly made unforgettable by (Clark) Kent V. We ordered Treatment package and did not regret it. This was not just a meal but an experience carefully crafted by Kent to perfection: the food and the entertainment, the jokes and the pauses were complimented by the well timed courses of delicious oysters, clams, scallop varieties, trout, pork belly, lots more before the final “life-changing cheesecake”. Kent made the night outstanding. We wished we could bring him back to Chicago. Short of that, this was experience not to miss.

Loved our dining experience at Fin and Fino! Cannot wait until they open the Birkdale location. Our waiter. Clark Kent was awesome. It was like dinner and a show rolled all into one. Will definitely bring going back.

3 star for mediocre food, 1 star for racist receptionist I live in Museum Tower (right above Fin and Fino) and I was here multiple times with friends because this is the closest restaurant. Last month my dad flew in Charlotte to see me. He is a first generation immigrant so his has a heavy accent. Most people can understand him just fine though- he teaches Econ in English and his students love him. The dining experience was fine. After leaving the restaurant, while driving him to visit a friend, he realized he forgot his jacket at the restaurant seat. Since I was driving, my dad called Fin and Fino to ask the receptionist to help check Lost and Found. The receptionist picked up the call is a female and she said she can’t understand a word my dad said because of his accent in a very rude way from the beginning and through out the call. She mimicked and mocked my dad for a minute. Then she “finally understood it”. But after paused for 3 seconds, she said they don’t have it. My dad questioned politely “Hey, did you check lost and found? Any chance you can ask the waitress served us to check our seat?” and the receptionist just said “bye” and hung up. For context - this is not busy hour, when we left there were only two other groups also dining, and the whole call lasted less than 5min. There was no doubt she discriminated my dad because of my dad’s accent. It broke my heart listening to that call as my dad is being treated like this. and I was so furious that I even wanted to stop on the highway to take over the phone. My dad calmed me down. The jacket was a cheap Costco jacket, but my dad wore it for many many years and he loved it. I felt bad he can’t have it back. Going forward, I am not going to Fin and Fino ever again and I am going to ask my friends and neighbors to also stop going and stop supporting this racist business.
